As Alex Ribas, President of TTI Success Insights of Brazil states, DiSC assessments are not a hammer. In other words, when you use a hammer, typically all you can think of is a nail. It’s important to point out that DiSC assessments, or Behaviors Assessments, as Target Training International refers to them, are not an all-inclusive solution. In fact, they are one of many tools that should be used when evaluating potential new hires, and/or evaluating existing team members in an effort to either improve communication or increase productivity based on the exploration of core competencies.
Ribas asserts that, “Behavior assessments will provide accurate information about a person’s potential. In order to analyze his or her readiness or performance capability, it will be necessary to collect further data using other methodologies.”
He further adds, “Combining the information provided by DISC assessment tools with data collected through other methodologies — such as analyses of motivators, emotional intelligence (EQ) and competences — is the right way to make more informed and effective decisions.”
