Is Traditional Leadership Really Working?
Posted on | July 3, 2024 | No Comments
Is traditional leadership as we know it working? A recent study released by the Gallup organization revealed that 62% of those in the workforce between the ages of 30 and 44 are disengaged. So, in answer to the question, I think not!
When you think about it, traditional leadership and management involves motivating others in one of two ways: reward and punishment. The problem is both of these are short-term answers to a long-term problem.
Realistically, we live in a world where raises and opportunity for advancement are not as prevalent as they were a decade ago. So, how do we keep mid-level managers and entry-level executives engaged while minimizing turnover?
I was recently reading the latest issue of the Harvard Business Review. There was an article which spoke of how some organizations are experiencing major breakthroughs in their business by focusing on leadership development programs that are designed to suit each individual’s unique leadership style.
What would happen if we changed today’s leaders’ perspective on what’s really important? What would that look like? What would the results be in the organization if we found a way to help people find purpose, meaning, and fulfillment in their work?
Personally, I think the results would be extraordinary.
I would love to hear your thoughts.
‘Til Next Week!
Be Blessed!
